Built in 1986, the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum sits in the middle of the Poncey-Highland neighborhood. Poncey-Highland was voted one of the best walking neighborhoods in Atlanta. Residents can enjoy walking through the tree lined streets or along the Freedom Park trail. Poncey-Highland residents enjoy being within close proximity to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. Interstate access is very good via Freedom Parkway. |

Poncey-Highland is located east of downtown Atlanta, between the popular neighborhoods of Virginia Highland and Inman Park. With a population of about 1,800 - 2,000 residents, it's not a large neighborhood. Poncey-Highland offers several historic sites including Highland School Lofts (1911), Ford Factory Lofts (1916), The Clermont (1923), Historic Highland Inn
(1927), The Majestic (1929), Plaza Theater (1930), Telephone Factory Lofts
(1939), and Manuel's Tavern (1956). Most of the homes were built between 1910 and 1930, with some newer homes interspersed. The lots are typical intown size, about .2 to .3 acres. |
